they sure will . but hunting in the spring you should learn how to use your various howls properly in conjunction with your other calls . they are territorial but you dont want to sound like the coyote is getting whipped by the fawn

Do you get American Rifleman?
There was a short little article about this guy (I think in Montana) who hunted coyotes for the state. Basically, he just had a rifle with a really long range rifle and shot from a prone position with a bipod. He also had a really good chart to help him hit his mark at the correct distances. I THINK it was in the April 07 issue (the one with the Springfield EMP 9mm as Handgun of the year), but it was definitely either March, April, or May 07, if you can get your hands on it.
Obviously if you aren’t hunting on wide-open land this doesn’t really work for you. If not, the guy above had some good tips as well.

Yes a fawn in distress call works , The sound carries good and will draw them in from a long ways off but dont get carried away blowing it. I prefer a electronic caller and a battery powered decoy Bass pro shops sell them . Mouth calls work well they just draw attention to you is the only problem and you need to be camoflaged well from head to toe.
Why I recommend a decoy and electronic caller set about 30 yards from you so they focus their attention on it instead of you.
Coyotes come in downwind most of the time so two people hunting them is nice .Set one hunter about 50 yards downwind of the caller Keep your scent and movement to a minimum.
I call in one spot for close to an hour if I dont see nothing I move on . Keep your eyes open for bobcats too they often sneak in and are legal game in some states. They take longer than coyotes to come in that is why I give each calling location an hour. Coyotes usually come in fairly quick if they are going to.
You can also hunt near dairy farms and such they often have a dump where they drag dead cattle that a good area to hunt.
Good hunting to ya

Yes they are scavegers. I have two wounded rabbit, Johhny Stewart coyote howler that will do about anythng else, and a mouse squeaker. a fawn in distress will work, espsically when they know its time when they are being born. they will come to it any time, but if theve seen one, they are more likely to come into the call. they also come into a cat distress, pig distress, and about every other animal they can eat. If you can record like a fire engine, do it and play it at night. they will howl like crazy at it. If you see one looking around like its looking for something, it is probly watching another coyote coming into the call. Sit crosswind, and wear full camo over face and hands and everything else. Use scent blocker if possible. If you have a good high powered rifle, take it. I had a shotgun for several months until i got a .243, and can really reach out there and touch them now. I had one sit down and watch me for 10 minutes about 400 yards away, and i poked him in the chest and dropped him where he was. I think besides turkey hunting, coyote hunting is the best huntin.
Good luck

This time of year yes. Use the fawn distress. The technique is to give a few yips and howls from the coyote call then hit the fawn distress. The coyotes in the area will think an outsider is coming into their territory and will come in to investigate. Set up on a hill looking down into a bottom with woods or on and old logging road where you can see in both directions for about 100 yards. Just becarful a mother deer dosent come charging in. If she does stand up wave your arms and shout at her that will detour her away. Good Luck!
